2024 The Year of Czech Music

The year-long festival known as the Year of Czech Music takes place every decade — and in 2024 it celebrated its 100th anniversary. The documentary captures the most compelling moments of this musical celebration and brings reflections on it from musicians, musicologists, and music historians... The Czech Philharmonic and the Prague Philharmonic Choir are preparing for concerts in New York. David Mareček, Director of the Prague Philharmonic Choir, explains how the contemporary export of Czech music and its presentation abroad currently works. Alongside the US concerts, the documentary takes us to the Bohuslav Martinů Days, the Brutal Assault festival, the Jewish music festival Štetl Fest, Jazz Fest Brno, and features a concert by the ZUŠ Rýmařov music school.
